Let the rain fall.
It's getting mighty chilly in Atlanta. I wish spring with its April showers and May flowers would come already. And when they do, I'll be prepared. With a $10 umbrella from Old Navy, available right here.

The Empire State.

I love this photo and want to save it forever. You can see a bigger and better picture at the Oak NYC website, one of my favorite places to window shop.

In which a new TV ruins everything.

The year in which I turn 30 has begun most inauspiciously. First, I've been sick the entire year! Secondly, we made the most anti-New Year's resolution ever - we bought a new 42 inch TV!! Thirdly, to accommodate said TV, which I've named Bubba in honor of our 42nd president, we are rearranging everything in our cluttered sub-1000 sq ft apartment. Said rearranging requiring multiple trips to Ikea, I've now managed to buy even more things to exacerbate said clutter. One worthy addition, however, is this happy-colored Unni rug I picked up for 20 bucks. It's going in the kitchen and replacing a ratty rug from Urban Outfitters. Happy New Year everyone!!

Move into the White House.

$9.88 million. That's some serious change you can believe in. And it's the asking price for the Atlanta White House on Briarcliff just a few miles from my apartment. Check out the story here in today's AJC.

Vote for Amir 2009 and T-shirt Designer Wanted!

I'm back today for a post about Atlanta, design, fashion, and a good cause all at once!
A friend of mine is planning a run for Atlanta City Council in 2009, and he's looking for an awesome t-shirt designer to design a fabulous t-shirt for his campaign! Yay! Who doesn't love a great t-shirt and free advertising, right?
I've known Amir for four years now, and while I used to give him a hard time for thinking he could actually change the world through politics - yes, I've been known to be a little cynical - I've never doubted for a second his commitment to Atlanta and us Atlantans (even transplants like me!). Amir is truly and deeply dedicated not only to making Atlanta a better place to live but also to fulfilling its potential as a world-class city.
In the course of my own volunteer work during this presidential campaign, I've been inspired by my fellow Americans who have realized that "ordinary people can do extraordinary things" when we come together to pursue a common purpose. I believe that effecting positive change is possible anywhere, everywhere, and right here in Atlanta, and I am sure that with Amir as a member of the Atlanta City Council, we will accomplish just that. To find out more about Amir and his ideas for making Atlanta "the city of which we dream," please visit his website here.
Don't forget to email me with suggestions! If you're a designer yourself, even better!! Thanks everyone!!

Vacation!

The lovely Joanna Harris, at her brother's wedding reception at my mother-in-law's yesterday afternoon.
I'm trying to finish everything up here at the office before skedaddling to the beach on Wednesday. There will be extremely light posting this week, if any!! Hopefully I'll be fully rested and full of lots of new inspiration when I get back next week!!
